The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has evacuated three Ghanaian traders who sustained injuries during a terrorist attack in northern Burkina Faso.

The attack occurred on February 14, 2026, at Titao, where suspected Islamist militants ambushed a truck conveying Ghanaian tomato traders.

Reports indicate that at least eight traders were killed, while three men and one woman sustained serious injuries. Seven women reportedly escaped unharmed. Eyewitnesses said the attackers separated the men from the women before opening fire and setting the truck on fire.

The evacuation operation was carried out on February 17, 2026, by the Ghana Air Force. The injured traders have since been transported to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for medical assessment and treatment.

In a statement, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

She said the evacuation forms part of the Government’s coordinated humanitarian and security response following the incident.

The attack has heightened concerns about the safety of Ghanaian traders operating in neighbouring countries, particularly in areas affected by Islamist insurgency across the Sahel region.
