The Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Hon. David Theophilus Dominic Vondee, has apologized following widespread backlash over his remarks on the viral video involving a suspended assistant headmaster of KNUST.
The legislator had earlier suggested that the act captured in the video appeared consensual, a comment that triggered sharp public criticism.
“If you watch the video carefully, the man was not forcing the young girl,” he said, adding, “From what I saw, it looked like something they both agreed to.”
The remarks were widely condemned as insensitive, especially in the context of protecting minors and vulnerable groups.
At a press conference on Tuesday, however, Hon. Vondee clarified his position, stressing that his words were taken out of context. He apologized unreservedly, insisting that he did not intend to downplay the gravity of the matter.
“My comments were misunderstood, and I sincerely regret the hurt they may have caused. I remain committed to advocating for the protection, rights, and dignity of young girls in our society,” he said.
