The United States Embassy in Ghana has issued a strong warning to prospective travelers, urging them not to use visa agents or consultants when applying for U.S. visas.
Consul General Mr. Elliot Fertik cautioned that many of these agents mislead applicants, often promising guaranteed approvals in exchange for thousands of dollars claims that are both false and illegal.
He disclosed that visa refusals in Ghana have increased, largely due to the involvement of unauthorized intermediaries. Many applicants, he noted, unknowingly submit incomplete or inaccurate information, severely affecting their chances of approval.
Mr. Fertik stressed that the U.S. visa application process is straightforward and can be completed independently without the help of a third party. He encouraged applicants to rely solely on the embassy’s official website and designated communication channels for accurate information and guidance.
Using unauthorized agents, he warned, could lead to visa denials, revocations, or even deportation.
The U.S. Embassy reiterated its commitment to combating visa fraud and protecting applicants from exploitation and scams.
