The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Hon. Isaac Yawson, has toured the Twifo Praso Old Market in the Central Region as part of efforts to gather firsthand insights ahead of the 2026 National Budget Presentation.
The budget, to be presented by the Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Ajumako–Assiam–Enyan, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is expected to outline key government priorities for the coming fiscal year under the leadership of President John Mahama.
Hon. Yawson explained that his visit was aimed at assessing the conditions and challenges faced by traders, especially in local markets, to ensure that the government’s policy interventions reflect the realities on the ground.
“This visit gives us the opportunity to listen directly to our traders and understand their daily struggles. The feedback gathered here will help inform decisions as the government prepares the 2026 Budget, which we expect will address critical issues such as the improvement of road networks connecting communities in Twifo Atti-Morkwa,” he said.
During the interaction, many traders expressed frustration over poor infrastructure, inadequate market sheds, and rising transportation costs, which they said continue to affect their businesses.
Some of the traders appealed to authorities to prioritize market development and road rehabilitation projects in the upcoming budget.
They also expressed optimism that the 2026 fiscal policy will bring tangible relief and opportunities for local businesses, particularly in the agriculture and trading sectors that drive the district’s economy.
