The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, has appealed to journalists to remain fair, balanced, and objective in their work.
He made the call when a delegation of journalists from the Central Region, led by the Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kingsley Nana Boadu, paid him a courtesy visit.
According to DCOP Cudjoe, the media plays a crucial role in shaping Ghana’s image both locally and internationally. He encouraged practitioners to continue exposing wrongdoing while also highlighting positive developments that reflect the nation’s progress.
“Our reports cross national borders. We must be mindful not to damage Ghana’s reputation unnecessarily. Journalism should be guided by truth, fairness, and responsibility,” he stated.
The Commander further underscored the need for stronger collaboration between the media and security agencies, particularly in the fight against crime. He cautioned against the rush to publish unverified information, stressing that credibility must remain the hallmark of the profession.
On behalf of the visiting team, GJA Regional Chairman Kingsley Nana Boadu expressed gratitude for the Commander’s counsel. He commended his openness to the media and pledged that the association would take his advice seriously.
