The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will maintain a bottom-up approach in conducting its internal elections, with the exercise running for six months from grassroots contests to the election of national executives.

Addressing a press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the party, said the exercise will begin on 20 April, with nominations opening for polling station positions, and conclude with the national executive elections from 18 to 20 September, 2026.

“The elections of our polling station executives will be held from May 10 to May 16, 2026. When we are done with the polling station elections, we will move straight to the electoral area executive committee elections, which will take place from June 10 to June 15, 2026,” he stated.

He added that the election of constituency officers is scheduled for July 11 to July 12, 2026, after which the party will conduct chapter and external branch elections.

“For the chapter elections, the opening and closing of nominations, vetting, appeals, elections, data entry, and validation of the album are expected to take place within the period of June 20 to July 19, 2026,” Mr. Kodua Frimpong said.

He described the national executive elections, slated for September 18 to September 20, 2026, as the “mother of all elections,” noting that the process is designed to ensure a transparent and orderly progression from the grassroots to the national level.
