The Central North Regional Police Command has arrested a fetish priest alleged to have played a key role in a sex trafficking syndicate that exploited 33 young women in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
The suspect, identified as Nana Abena, is accused of performing ritual ceremonies using the victims’ pubic hair, fingernails, and other body elements. Police say the rituals were designed to instill fear and psychological control, preventing the women from escaping or exposing the trafficking network.
Investigations revealed that the victims all Nigerian nationals were taken to the shrine by their trafficker before being forced into prostitution. Acting on intelligence, police raided the shrine at Nipa-ne-Kuro, near Denkyira Subin, around 5:05 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2025. The operation rescued all 33 victims and led to the arrest of the alleged trafficker, identified as “Baby Rich,” who is currently assisting with investigations.
According to police, the women were lured to Ghana under false promises of decent jobs but were instead subjected to physical assault, psychological abuse, and forced prostitution. Authorities are now working with the Ghana Immigration Service and other institutions to facilitate their safe repatriation to Nigeria.
The Central North Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to dismantling trafficking networks and urged communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving trafficking or ritual practices.
