Koo Ofori, a popular Ghanaian comic actor known offstage as Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has been arrested by the Accra Central Police Command for allegedly defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000.
According to police sources, the actor lured the victim with a supposed investment opportunity but failed to fulfill the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.
The victim filed a complaint after repeated efforts to recover the funds proved unsuccessful.
Investigations revealed that Koo Ofori had defaulted on repayment, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest after he ignored a court summons.
He is currently in police custody and is expected to reappear in court on May 12, 2025.
Police have urged the public to exercise caution in financial transactions, especially those involving significant sums and informal arrangements.
