A tragic shooting incident has left residents of Denase in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region gripped with fear and panic, following the death of two people and injuries to three others.

The injured victims were rushed to the Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital for medical treatment.

The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, July 24, after multiple gunshots were fired, causing chaos and confusion in the community.

While the exact circumstances remain unclear, some residents suspect the attack may have been a contract killing, further deepening public anxiety.

Kwabena Asamoah, Unit Committee Chairman for the Denase Electoral Area, said the assault did not appear to be a robbery but rather a targeted attack on specific individuals travelling in a vehicle. He noted that 14 bullets were fired during the incident, underscoring the ferocity of the assault.

This is not the first time Denase has experienced such violence, as similar attacks have been recorded in the past.

Meanwhile, tension is also mounting in Asawase following the fatal shooting of an unidentified man by unknown assailants on a motorbike. The assailants, believed to be two men, reportedly opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.

This latest incident comes less than a week after the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region was shot and killed in the same area, sparking widespread fear and concern.

As police intensify investigations and pursue the perpetrators, residents in both Denase and Asawase remain on edge, with growing calls for improved security and swift justice.
