Asawase suburb of Kumasi has witnessed a second fatal shooting incident this week, heightening fears among residents.
A yet-to-be-identified man was shot and killed by unknown assailants on Thursday night.
According to eyewitnesses, two men on a motorbike approached the victim just as he was entering his pickup truck after dining at a local food joint. The assailants opened fire, shooting him twice and killing him instantly.
It remains unclear whether this latest attack is connected to the earlier killing of a local chief in the same area.
On Tuesday, a middle-aged chief was fatally shot by two unidentified assailants, also riding a motorbike. A police statement confirmed that the attackers “approached their victim and opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene.”
Security has since been heightened in Asawase as police launch investigations into both incidents. Residents are calling for swift action and enhanced protection to prevent further bloodshed.
