The Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has announced that recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces under the Mahama administration will be strictly merit-based.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Omane Boamah cautioned the public against fraudsters who demand money for enlistment into the armed forces, stressing that those who fall for such scams do so at their own risk.
“Under the Mahama administration, recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be based on merit, not money,” he stated.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment-related activities to the security agencies.
Dr. Omane Boamah also highlighted ongoing government efforts to strengthen national security. He noted that the operations of the navy and air force have been enhanced, with the navy now offering increased protection for the West Africa Gas Pipeline and providing training for narcotics control personnel.
Reassuring the public, the Defence Minister said Ghana remains safe, stable, and peaceful, and the government is committed to maintaining law and order.
“Criminals seeking to disrupt peace under the guise of chieftaincy issues will be dealt with,” he warned.
He concluded by stating that the country is on course for a “reset agenda” under the leadership of President Mahama.
