The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of a 50-year-old woman, identified as Habiba, at the Dominase onion market in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
A Police source said the suspect allegedly strangled the victim after she reportedly refused his advances.
The source said the incident occurred when the deceased was on her way to buy fresh cow milk from a nearby ranch.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased’s son, who was on the phone with her at the time of the incident, alerted relatives after he heard a scream before the call suddenly ended.
The residents later traced her location and found her unconscious in a nearby bush.
Community members subsequently mounted surveillance, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect was initially handed over to the Potsin Police for further action.
