DSP Simon Boavo, Municipal Police Commander for Upper Denkyira East, has commended Denkyiraman Radio for its consistent efforts in promoting security awareness and educating the public on safety-related issues.

Speaking during the station’s fifth anniversary celebration, DSP Boavo said Denkyiraman Radio had over the years provided a reliable platform for the Police Service to engage the public on security matters, helping to keep residents informed and vigilant.

He noted that through its programmes and community-focused content, the station had contributed significantly to public sensitisation and the dissemination of credible information on safety and crime prevention.

DSP Boavo expressed concern about the increasing human cost of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, and disclosed that 67 people had lost their lives in galamsey-related incidents between March 10, 2025, and the present.

According to him, 59 of the deaths were recorded in the first quarter of 2026, highlighting the dangerous nature of the illegal activity and its devastating impact on communities.

He called for renewed collaboration among stakeholders, including traditional authorities, security agencies, the media and residents, to intensify efforts to combat illegal mining and protect lives and the environment.

DSP Boavo urged members of the public to continue relying on responsible community media outlets such as Denkyiraman Radio for credible information and public education.

He congratulated the management and staff of the station on its fifth anniversary and encouraged them to continue serving the public interest through informative and impactful programming.
