The government has announced that payments for outstanding debts owed to road contractors will commence this month.
President John Mahama made the announcement during a meeting with the Council of State at Jubilee House on Monday, July 7.
He revealed that the Ministry of Finance has allocated funds to clear a significant portion of the arrears, paving the way for contractors to resume work on stalled infrastructure projects.
According to the President, the initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to fast-track project completion and boost economic recovery.
He added that further details on the payments will be outlined in the upcoming mid-year budget review, which will assess the country’s economic performance for the first half of the year.
President Mahama also pledged to reconvene with the Council of State after the budget review to discuss progress and evaluate outcomes.
