The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has praised the government for the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi, describing it as a positive development for the business community.

According to Benjamin Yeboah, GUTA’s Welfare Officer, the strengthening of the cedi is expected to reduce import costs and help stabilize market prices.

Speaking in an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Morning Show, Yeboah revealed that some traders have already started adjusting their prices downward in response to the improved exchange rate.

“The market forces are pushing prices down because of the cedi’s strength,” he said, expressing optimism that the trend would continue and lead to further price reductions.

GUTA remains hopeful that the government will maintain efforts to stabilize the local currency and support long-term economic growth.

“We’re praying and hoping that the government will continue to do everything possible to ensure the cedi continues to gain strength,” Yeboah added.
