A 56-year-old farmer, identified as Kofi Sackey, has been found dead with a suspected gunshot wound to his stomach at Assin Ketukrom in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
The deceased was discovered in his younger brother’s room on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, with a single-barrelled shotgun found resting on his body.
According to police reports, his younger brother, Kofi Ansah, discovered the body after returning from the farm and subsequently reported the incident to the Assin North District Police Command.
A nephew, Acquah Emmanuel, told investigators that family members heard a gunshot shortly after the deceased left the room where they were watching television.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr Kingsford Deku, suggested that a family dispute over ownership of a cocoa farm might have contributed to the incident.
The body has since been conveyed to the New Edubiase Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy as police investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
