Five female BECE candidates from Wassa Agave D/A Basic School in the Wassa East District fighting for their lives.
The students were struck by a motorbike rider who reportedly lost control while they were buying food by the roadside.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, as the students were heading home after completing their exams.
All five sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to the Wassa Attiku Christian Hospital. Three of them are in critical condition, suffering severe dental and leg injuries, while the other two remain in stable condition.
The motorbike rider, who was also injured, is currently receiving treatment at the same facility.
The incident has sparked widespread concern in the community, with local teachers calling for immediate action to ensure the safety of students, especially during the ongoing examination period.
