Doris Tawiah, lost her life after an old building collapsed.
The incident happened on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., leaving two others injured.
According to the local Assembly Member, Hon. Emmanuel Oteng Perkoh, the young girl had joined friends behind the dilapidated building when it suddenly gave way.
Despite earlier warnings from NADMO and other authorities about the building’s visible cracks and structural weaknesses, occupants reportedly ignored the advice to vacate the premises.
The victims were initially rushed to a nearby health center and later referred to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, where Doris sadly succumbed to her injuries.
Police have launched an investigation and are working with NADMO to assess the remaining structure to avert any further danger.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the mortuary.
