The Asokwa Circuit Court has remanded five suspects, including a pregnant woman, into police custody in connection with the robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region.
According to police investigations, the pregnant woman allegedly acted as an informant for the gang. She reportedly befriended the victims, gained their trust, and provided the gang with critical information that enabled the targeted attacks.
During the court hearing, she requested bail on health grounds related to her pregnancy. However, the court denied bail to all five suspects, citing the gravity of the charges and the ongoing investigation.
The case has been adjourned to May 21, 2025, as police continue to gather evidence for prosecution.
The double murder has left the community in shock and raised growing concerns about the safety of mobile money operators in the region.
