A total of 4,288 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Upper Denkyira West and East Districts as the nationwide exercise begins across examination centres.
In the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly, 2,018 candidates, made up of 1,118 girls and 900 boys from 82 public and private Junior High Schools, are taking part in the examination across various centres in the district.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CJ on Denkyiraman Radio’s National Agenda programme on Monday, May 4, 2026, the District Director of Education, Nana Kusi, confirmed that all was set for the smooth commencement of the exercise.
He stated that candidates began with English Language and Religious and Moral Education, and urged all stakeholders to maintain discipline and focus throughout the examination period.
Nana Kusi cautioned teachers, invigilators, and candidates to stay away from examination malpractice, warning that strict monitoring systems had been put in place to ensure fairness. He noted that the examination is being conducted at nine centres, including Diaso, Subin, Denkyira Obuasi, Ntom, and Ayanfuri, among others.
In the Upper Denkyira East District, a total of 2,270 candidates are also participating in the examination.
The District Director of Education, Mr. Anthony Takyi, also speaking to CJ on National Agenda, confirmed that all preparations were in place for a smooth conduct of the examination across nine centres, including Boa Amponsem SHS, Dunkwa Senior High School, Kyekyewere SHS, Asikuma, Buabin, and Oponso centres.
He similarly cautioned teachers and candidates against examination malpractice, warning that anyone caught engaging in cheating or introducing foreign materials into examination halls would face strict sanctions.
Both education authorities assured parents and stakeholders that adequate supervision and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a credible and smooth BECE exercise across the Upper Denkyira districts.
