The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has denied claims of a shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) fuel in Ghana, assuring the public and airline operators that there is a sufficient supply for all aircraft operations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the Ministry described recent reports of an ATK shortage as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard any alarmist narratives.
The Ministry clarified that recent maintenance work on the ATK jetty pipeline now completed was intended to enhance fuel security and improve long-term efficiency in fuel delivery systems.
It further disclosed that Ghana has recently received an ATK vessel carrying 11,984 metric tons of aviation fuel. Out of this, 4,583 metric tons have already been discharged to PWSL over the past two days, with the remaining stock currently being delivered to the Tema Oil Refinery and Ridge Depots.
Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, has met with key industry stakeholders to ensure the continuous and stable supply of aviation fuel across the country.
The Ministry reiterated its assurance that there is no shortage of ATK and called on all stakeholders and the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
