The Denkyirahemaa, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of eight men who died in last Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
In a condolence message, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III said the accident, which occurred on August 6, claimed the lives of gallant Ghanaians who were on national assignment from Accra to Obuasi, including cabinet ministers and military officers.
Among the deceased was her “beloved son,” the late Minister of Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, whom she described as respectful, humble, and devoted to the service of Ghana.
“His passing, together with that of the seven others, has left the nation bereft of some of its finest and most brilliant minds,” she said, adding that Ghana has lost hardworking, dedicated, and intelligent citizens whose contributions to national development were invaluable.
The Denkyirahemaa, on behalf of herself, the chiefs, and the people of Denkyira, extended heartfelt sympathies to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation.
She prayed for the Almighty God to grant the departed eternal rest and comfort the country in its moment of grief.
