New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Bryan Acheampong has expressed confidence in his campaign ahead of the party’s internal elections, dismissing concerns over influence from party elites.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, Acheampong said there was “no so-called establishment” that could sway the outcome, emphasizing that the party’s delegates would decide the winner.
Acheampong, who has been a prominent figure in the NPP for years, said his experience and influence within the party gave him an edge over competitors.
“The whole party architecture is going to vote. We have 250,000 people potentially going to vote,” the Abetifi MP said.
“I have made an influence on these people beyond the broader delegates. It is going to be free and fair. I am particularly not worried about any influence of any establishment,” he added.
The NPP is preparing for its primaries ahead of the 2028 general election, with five party figures vying for the flagbearer position.
Acheampong reiterated his focus on a grassroots campaign, stating that only the votes of party delegates would determine the outcome.
