The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Police Commander, DSP Simon Boavo, has issued a strong advisory to residents and motorists in Dunkwa-On-Offin, urging them to avoid parking along key roads in the municipality ahead of the installation and coronation of the 26th King of Denkyira.
In an interview with Nana Tabono, Head of News and Current Affairs at Denkyiraman Radio, DSP Boavo announced that several major roads in Dunkwa will be closed to vehicular traffic from Tuesday, 28th October to Sunday, 2nd November 2025, as part of preparations for the grand traditional event.
The areas affected by the restriction include Dankro, Sisala Line, Kyekyewere Station, and Dunkwaso, where parking will be strictly prohibited. The police have emphasized that vehicles parked in these areas will be towed, and owners will face heavy fines before being allowed to retrieve them.
DSP Boavo explained that the restrictions are essential to ensure the smooth movement of traditional leaders (Nananoom), dignitaries, and visitors expected to attend the historic occasion.
Other roads to be temporarily closed include routes linking the Ghana Water Company office through Abankesieso to Y and T Junctions, Pentecost Preparatory School, and the Electoral Commission Roundabout.
The Police Commander appealed to residents for maximum cooperation, stressing that the success of the coronation depends on discipline and adherence to the traffic and safety measures being put in place.
In a final note, he reminded residents to wear black attire throughout the period, in line with the directive from the Denkyira Traditional Council, as a mark of reverence and respect to the traditional leadership.
