President John Dramani Mahama has ordered a forensic investigation into the organization of the 13th African Games hosted in Ghana, following what sources describe as disturbing findings contained in a recent report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
The NIB report, submitted to the Presidency last week, is said to highlight possible irregularities in contract awards, procurement processes, and infrastructure development connected to the multi-sport event held earlier this year.
In response, President Mahama has directed the Auditor-General to commence a comprehensive forensic audit into all financial and administrative transactions related to the Games.
The investigation is expected to scrutinize the award of contracts, cost variations, and project execution timelines, with the goal of establishing accountability and ensuring value for money.
A source at the Presidency told journalists that the President has set a December 2025 deadline for the submission of the Auditor-General’s findings.
The 13th African Games, which positioned Ghana as a key host on the continental sporting stage, have since come under public criticism over the cost of infrastructure, contract transparency, and post-event facility management.
