The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has embarked on a regulatory exercise that resulted in the closure of several unlicensed hospitality facilities in Kasoa and surrounding communities.

The enforcement drive targeted businesses in Central Kasoa and Ofaakor within the Awutu Senya East Municipality, as well as Kakraba and Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District.

According to officials, the affected establishments were operating without valid GTA licences, in violation of the Registration and Licensing of Food, Beverage, and Entertainment Enterprises Regulations, 2016 (L.I. 2238).

Beyond licensing breaches, the authority also cited concerns over safety and service quality, noting that some operators failed to meet the minimum industry standards.

Speaking to the media on Monday, August 18, 2025, Shine Dela Gwornu, Deputy Director at the GTA’s Accra West Regional Directorate, stressed the importance of compliance.

The GTA cautioned that the affected facilities will only be allowed to resume operations after regularising their documentation and meeting all regulatory requirements. Any attempt to reopen without authorisation, the Authority warned, will constitute a criminal offence.
