Assin Anwiasu (Assin South District) Chaos erupted in the community when a routine Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) exercise to recover unpaid electricity bills turned confrontational.
The ECG team had visited the town to collect arrears and disconnect defaulting households, but their actions angered the youth, who accused the company of carrying out arbitrary and unjust disconnections.
In protest, the agitated youth mounted roadblocks, preventing the ECG officials from leaving and disrupting normal movement in the area. The situation quickly escalated into a tense standoff, drawing large crowds of worried residents.
With tempers flaring, urgent calls were made for police intervention to restore order and ensure the safety of both ECG staff and community members.
