Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Serbia will grant 100,000 work permits to Ghanaians in 2025 as part of a new bilateral agreement between the two countries.

Speaking to journalists in Accra after signing the agreement with Serbia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Marko Đurić, Mr. Ablakwa explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen economic ties and promote labour mobility between Ghana and Serbia.

“Ghana is ready to take full advantage of Serbia’s plan to issue 100,000 work permits this year,” Mr. Ablakwa stated.

He noted that the agreement would help Serbia address its aging population while creating employment opportunities for Ghana’s young and growing workforce.

A full labour mobility agreement is currently being finalized, with additional partnerships being explored in agriculture, culture, tourism, and other sectors.

Mr. Đurić praised Ghana’s economic vision, including the 24-hour economy policy, and expressed optimism about long-term collaboration between the two nations.
