The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged appointees of President John Dramani Mahama to uphold integrity and place the nation’s interests above personal gain.
Speaking during a meeting with President Mahama at the Jubilee House, the Asantehene emphasized the importance of loyalty, truthfulness, and a strong commitment to national development.
He cautioned the appointees against complacency, warning that Ghana’s progress hinges on the collective efforts and ethical conduct of its leaders.
“The country must always come first,” Otumfuo stated, calling for a unified dedication to advancing Ghana’s development agenda.
The meeting took place as President Mahama, recently re-elected in 2024 for a non-consecutive second term, continues to roll out policies aimed at economic recovery and infrastructure enhancement.
President Mahama has pledged to reduce the size of government and boost administrative efficiency.
In a show of appreciation, the President thanked the Asantehene for encouraging him to accept the Vice Presidential role under the late President Prof. John Atta Mills. He also lauded Otumfuo’s outstanding contributions to national peace and the resolution of chieftaincy disputes, describing him as a national symbol of visionary leadership.
