Samuel Agyei Donkor, a timber dealer and New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency organizer in the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency, has been convicted by the Akyem Ofoase District Court for assaulting a farmer, Kofi Boakye, with a chainsaw machine.

The incident occurred near a public cemetery at Akyem Bontodiase, where Boakye had confronted Donkor over the unauthorized felling of trees on farmland. In response, Donkor allegedly attacked him with a chainsaw, injuring his upper back.

Donkor pleaded guilty to assault and was fined a total of GH¢3,400 as punishment, with an additional GH¢1,600 ordered as compensation for the victim’s medical expenses. He faces six months in prison if the fines are not paid.

The case was presided over by His Worship Benjamin Bennet-Attabrah Esq. at the Akyem Ofoase District Court.
