The Ghana Police Service’s Special Anti-Galamsey Task Force has arrested three suspects and seized multiple pieces of mining equipment during two coordinated operations in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
The operations took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, in the communities of Nikanika and Adeade.
At Nikanika, the task force retrieved a single-barrel shotgun and three water pumping machines. No operators were present at the site during the raid.
At Adeade, three individuals were arrested, and authorities seized an excavator, four unregistered motorbikes, and a lowbed vehicle.
The suspects Prosper Quansah, Chrispin Nartey, and Owusu Gambra are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations. The seized items are being held for further processing.
These operations form part of the Ghana Police Service’s continued efforts to clamp down on illegal mining and safeguard the country’s natural resources.
The task force’s actions underscore the government’s commitment to law enforcement and environmental preservation. This latest intervention marks another step toward curbing the menace of illegal mining and advancing sustainable development in Ghana.
