The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has firmly rejected rumors suggesting that Brigadier General Michael Opoku was arrested for alleged possession of ammunition.
In a statement dated Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the military clarified that no such arrest had taken place.
The release, signed by Captain V.A. Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, stated that checks with national security and investigative bodies produced no confirmation of the claims.
GAF emphasized that Brigadier General Opoku continues to serve actively in the Armed Forces and has not been linked to any wrongdoing.
Officials stressed that although this particular report is false, any soldier who breaches the law will not be shielded from due legal processes.
Describing the publication as misleading, the Armed Forces urged the public to disregard the circulating story and cautioned against the dangers of spreading misinformation and disinformation.
