Akrokere, Adansi North District, Ashanti Region, where the bodies of Ama Rita, a 29-year-old expectant mother, and her two-year-old daughter were discovered under unclear circumstances.
The victims’ bodies were found approximately 20 meters apart, bearing visible marks of assault, indicating potential foul play.
Hon. Ernest Appiah Sampson, Assembly Member for the Biribi Wo Oman Yi Mu Electoral Area, speaking to the media, revealed that the tragic incident occurred near a stream, leaving residents gripped with fear.
Preliminary observations at the crime scene suggest that Ama Rita put up a struggle against her assailants, but ultimately succumbed to their attack.
Hon. Appiah Sampson described the situation as heartbreaking.
After receiving a distress call from community members, he and his unit committee promptly reported the case to the police.
He stressed that the bodies had been there for about four days before they were discovered.
He further described the woman as a hardworking trader who prepared and sold kenkey and other food items, especially during funerals in the area.
Hon. Ernest Sampson added that the incident has instilled fear among residents in the community.
He said the bodies have been deposited at the Obuasi Dwaden OD Mortuary, and probing to unravel the mystery behind this gruesome crime is underway.
