President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) following concerns over her lack of a valid license to practice medicine in Ghana.
In her place, Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke a seasoned medical practitioner and former Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Ghana Medical Association has been appointed to the NHIA Board with immediate effect.
A letter from the Presidency has directed the relevant authorities to facilitate Prof. Yorke’s swearing-in.
The decision to remove Daly follows public and professional criticism over her representation as a medical doctor without a valid Ghanaian medical license.
Stakeholders in the health sector had questioned her qualifications and suitability to serve on the board of a key public health institution.
Industry experts have welcomed the appointment of Prof. Yorke, describing him as a credible and experienced choice for the NHIA Board.
