The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 46‑year‑old Ghanaian woman at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) after officers intercepted 30 slabs of compressed cannabis weighing 16.4 kilograms hidden among personal items in her cargo.

The intelligence‑led operation took place on Tuesday, 27 May 2025, at the Swissport consolidated cargo section of KIA. NACOC officials, acting on a tip off, isolated the consignment for inspection and discovered the drugs concealed within the suspect’s luggage.

The woman is currently in NACOC custody assisting with investigations, while the seized cannabis has been sent for forensic analysis. The Commission says inquiries are continuing to trace the substance’s origin and identify any accomplices involved in the smuggling attempt.

NACOC reiterated its commitment to combating narcotics trafficking through tighter airport surveillance and urged the public to share timely information that can help disrupt drug networks.
