A six-year-old boy, Sylvester Owusu, is missing after reportedly falling into a culvert along the Anikoko River in Dunkwa-On-Offin, Central Region, during heavy rainfall on Saturday.
According to family members, Sylvester slipped while attempting to cross the river and was swept away by the fast-moving current.
The incident occurred after his grandmother had sent him home from Zongo Market to Oteng Crescent.
The downpour, which began around 3:00 p.m. and continued until 7:00 p.m., led to significant flooding in parts of the area.
A search operation was launched at dawn on Sunday but has yet to locate the boy. Efforts to find him are expected to continue on Monday morning.
