As part of activities marking the installation and coronation of the new Denkyirahene, officials from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality will conduct a free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal drive in Dunkwa-on-Offin from Monday, October 27th to Sunday, November 2nd, 2025.
The week-long initiative aims to make it easier for residents of Denkyira and nearby communities to access quality healthcare services under the NHIS.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Mr. Enoch Otoo on National Agenda, NHIA Public Relations Officer Mr. Kwame Kusi explained that this special outreach program is part of the Authority’s effort to expand NHIS coverage and ensure every resident benefits from affordable healthcare.
According to Mr. Kusi, the event will also give residents the chance to link their Ghana Card with their NHIS card, enabling faster verification and access to health services at approved facilities.
“This opportunity is open to everyone regardless of age or gender. Our goal is to enroll more residents into the NHIS so they can enjoy the full benefits of the national health insurance scheme,” Mr. Kusi stated.
He further encouraged residents to take advantage of the registration and renewal drive, which coincides with the royal celebrations in Dunkwa-on-Offin, to secure their health coverage for the coming year.
The NHIA Dunkwa Office will set up a designated registration point in front of the Denkyirahene’s palace to serve both new applicants and existing members.
The initiative also supports national efforts to expand healthcare access to every Ghanaian, aligning with the government’s broader goal of achieving universal health coverage.
