A group of young people claiming allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has shut down the Western Regional office of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), protesting the appointment of Daniel Dawusu as the new Regional Coordinator.
The group argues that the position should be given to someone from the Western Region, insisting that appointing an outsider undermines local representation and disregards regional interests.
Kwabena Afriyie, the NDC Constituency Youth Organiser, defended the group’s actions and vowed that the office will remain closed until their demands are addressed.
“We have locked up the office, and we’ve been given the chance again. We’ll lock it up until our demands are met,” he stated.
He further called on the authorities to replace the current appointee with their preferred candidate, whom they believe is equally qualified.
“We’re asking them to replace their appointee with our recommended candidate, who is qualified for the job. Meeting our demand will bring peace to the region,” Afriyie added.
