A team of police officers, led by the Assin Breku District Commander, Superintendent Eric Agbodzibi, has visited the bereaved family of 9-year-old Nicholas Oduro, who was brutally killed at Assin Breku on Tuesday.

The officers expressed their condolences and assured the family of a thorough and transparent investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Superintendent Agbodzibi reaffirmed the police’s determination to ensure justice is delivered, stressing that every possible lead will be followed.

The suspect, 31-year-old Agya Asuo, was lynched by an irate mob shortly after the murder. According to relatives and community members, he had been exhibiting signs of mental instability for over four years.

Police investigations have also revealed that the suspect had a troubling criminal record. In 2021, he was arrested by the Assin North District Police for allegedly exhuming human remains and hanging human skulls in his room an incident that left the community in shock at the time.

In a grim development, police found that the suspect’s testicles had been mutilated before his death. Officers say investigations into both the child’s killing and the lynching are still ongoing.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm as police work to restore order and continue searching for the victim’s missing severed hand.
