The Government of Ghana has settled a total of $904,561.31 in outstanding salary arrears owed to both current and former coaches of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

The payments, authorized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports under Minister Kofi Iddie Adams, aim to restore trust, accountability, and professionalism within the football sector. This development follows months and in some cases, years of unpaid dues dating back to 2022.

Among the beneficiaries is former Head Coach C.K. Akonnor, who received $120,000, while Chris Hughton was paid $68,904.11 for services rendered in January 2024, including his signing-on fee.

Former assistant coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani received $20,833.34 and $12,500 respectively.

David Duncan was paid $40,000 for salary arrears from February 2023, and Maxwell Konadu received $30,000 in arrears dating back to November 2022.

The current coaching staff also received their due compensation. Head Coach Otto Addo was paid in two tranches $180,000 and $240,000 covering arrears from October 2024 to March 2025.

The move is being widely welcomed within football circles as a positive step toward improving conditions for national team staff and maintaining professional standards in Ghanaian football.
