Denkyira Traditional Council Bans Funerals and Public Gatherings Ahead of King’s Coronation

The Denkyira Traditional Council has announced a ban on funerals, noise-making, and all forms of public gatherings within Denkyira lands as part of customs leading to the enstoolment and coronation of a new king.

The restrictions take effect from Monday, September 22, 2025, and will remain in force until further notice. According to the Council, the directive is in line with long-held traditions of the Denkyira state to preserve sanctity and order during such historic occasions.

As part of the royal rites, the official naming and confinement of the new Denkyira king will take place on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The Publicity and Media Subcommittee of the Traditional Council has urged the general public to take note of the directive and ensure strict compliance.
