The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, to explain a viral video showing him handing over a large sum of money to evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The footage has sparked widespread public criticism and raised ethical concerns.

Mr. Gyamfi has been asked to provide a detailed account of the transaction.

The incident has triggered backlash and speculation, with critics questioning whether the act aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which emphasizes integrity, accountability, and transparency as part of broader anti-corruption efforts.

In response to the controversy, the CEO described the gesture as a private act of kindness that inadvertently became public. He issued an apology to the public on Sunday, 11 May.

Despite the apology, the Chief of Staff is treating the matter with urgency, citing its potential to damage the government’s reputation.
