The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Upper Denkyira East, Hon. George Anane Coleman, has disclosed that the Assembly has taken delivery of 10,000 birds to commence the Government’s Nkoko Nketenkete initiative in the municipality.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CJ on Denkyiraman Radio, the MCE said the birds were currently under brooding and would remain so for four weeks before being distributed to beneficiary farmers.
According to him, the programme is expected to benefit 200 farmers across the municipality, with each farmer receiving 50 birds.
He further indicated that Government would support the beneficiary farmers with feed to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
The birds, which are broilers, are intended for meat production as part of efforts to boost local poultry farming, enhance food security and create employment opportunities within the municipality.
Hon. Anane Coleman expressed optimism that the initiative would strengthen the local economy and reduce dependence on imported poultry products.
