A 52-year-old spiritualist and farmer, Baba Ibrahim, popularly known as Alhaji Nagode, has been found dead in a suspected suicide incident at Assin Amoabeng, near Nyankumase Ahenkuro in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

The incident occurred at about 0640 hours on Monday, September 7, 2026, according to the deceased’s 14-year-old daughter.

She said her father asked her to take her younger sibling to school and return for money to buy food.

The daughter said upon her return about 30 minutes later, she found her father unresponsive in circumstances suggesting suicide and raised an alarm.

Alhaji Nagode, who was a spiritualist and farmer, was also known for speaking publicly against illegal mining and environmental destruction.

He reportedly had seven children, with the youngest being five years old.

The daughter further disclosed that her father was involved in a court case with a man in the community, with the matter reportedly scheduled for hearing on Monday.

She, however, said it was not yet known whether the court case had any connection with his death.

The Assembly Member for the area, Mr Ekow Sadique Aidoo, confirmed the incident and said the matter had been reported to the Police.

The circumstances surrounding the death remained under investigation.
