The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, ADO1 Osafo Gyasi, has strongly condemned the increasing incidents of assault against firefighters, urging the public to desist from attacking personnel during emergency operations.
Speaking on Denlyiraman Radio 91.9 FM as part of activities marking International Firefighters’ Day, he described such acts as unacceptable and dangerous, noting that they hinder rescue efforts and put more lives at risk.
ADO1 Gyasi emphasized that firefighters are trained professionals working to protect lives and property, and must be given the needed cooperation and respect at all times.
He further disclosed that as part of activities to commemorate the day, personnel of the Fire Service will embark on a public awareness walk through some principal streets of Dunkwa-on-Offin to educate residents on fire safety and prevention.
He called on residents to support the initiative and join hands with the Service in promoting a safer community.
