An incident has shaken the town of Abompekrom in the Obuasi West Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Akosua Atta, popularly known as Anti Atta, was found brutally murdered in her kitchen on Sunday evening during a power outage.
Neighbours reported hearing a distressing scream from Atta’s house and rushed to her aid, only to find her bleeding profusely.
She was quickly transported to the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Atta’s daughter, known as Sister, expressed deep sorrow and disbelief over the incident.
“Why would anyone commit such a heinous act against my mother?” she lamented.
The body has since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy, while the Obuasi Divisional Police Command has launched a full investigation.
Frederick Addo, Assemblyman for the Abompekrom Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and described the circumstances as deeply disturbing.
Police say they are working tirelessly to uncover the facts and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Meanwhile, residents of Abompekrom remain in shock, demanding swift action and answers from the authorities.
