President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to release funds for the completion of the Ghana Award House project.

The Ghana Award House is a five-million-cedi, two-storey administrative facility being constructed for the Head of State Award Scheme. The project was initiated in April 2021 under the previous administration.

Speaking at the Head of State Award ceremony, President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the completion of the project, describing it as a vital investment in the development of young people.

“For 70 years, this initiative has moulded global leaders, innovators, and change-makers. In Ghana, it has become a symbol of hope, discipline, and transformation. As Chief Patron, I reaffirm my dedication to completing the Ghana Award House,” he stated.

The President noted that he had not forgotten a promise he made when Mr. Asante-Boateng and his team paid a courtesy call on him, assuring that steps had already been taken to secure funding for the project.

“I haven’t forgotten; indeed, I have instructed GETFund to provide us with the funding to complete the project. This Award House will be a lasting symbol of this legacy and our investment in the future of our young people,” he added.

The completion of the facility is expected to provide a permanent administrative base for the Scheme and enhance its operations in nurturing youth development across the country.
