Hundreds of supporters of Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, thronged the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Thursday, demanding his release from custody over alleged tax irregularities.
EOCO later announced that the dancehall star had been granted bail, set at GH₵10 million with two sureties, which must be validated before his release.
In a social media update, Samuel Atuobi Baah, widely known as Sammy Flex and manager of Shatta Wale’s media affairs, confirmed that the artiste’s management and legal team were working to satisfy the bail conditions.
He cautioned the public against circulating or believing false reports, clarifying that the EOCO probe is focused solely on tax-related issues, particularly those connected to Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini and certain business dealings, rather than other rumors circulating online.
Shatta Wale was detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as part of EOCO’s broader investigations into luxury vehicles and outstanding tax obligations.
