Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Stealing Newborn Baby at Mamprobi Polyclinic

The Ghana Police Service at Dansoman has arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a newborn baby at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 15, 2026, but the baby was later rescued and safely reunited with the mother at the Dansoman Police Station.

The newborn, who was delivered on Valentine’s Day, was reportedly taken under circumstances currently under investigation by the Police.

A Police source confirmed the arrest and said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and to determine whether any accomplices were involved.

In a related development, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has presented the affected family with an undisclosed amount of money and essential baby supplies.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Naa Momo Lartey, personally supervised the reunion at the Dansoman Police Station and assured the family of the government’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring the safety of mothers and newborns.

She also urged health facilities to strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents.

The Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
