A 40-year-old police officer stationed at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Ahafo Region has reportedly died by suicide, sending shockwaves through the law enforcement community and residents of the area.
The deceased, identified as Sergeant Brown, is said to have taken his own life while on duty at the charge office of the Duayaw Nkwanta Police Station on Friday.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day while Sergeant Brown was carrying out his routine duties. His colleagues, who were left in disbelief, discovered his lifeless body shortly after.
The reasons behind Sergeant Brown’s action remain unclear. The Ghana Police Service has since launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
A senior officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the late Sergeant as a hardworking and dedicated policeman. “It is very difficult to come to terms with this. He was always committed to his work, and none of us saw this coming,” the officer said.
